Decide what you are looking for. Do you just want more speed? Do you want to be able to connect multiple computers to the Internet? Do you want to be able to work from anywhere in your home? All of the above?

1. Do you just want more speed? If so, you want a Broadband (DSL, Cable, Satellite) connection. That means you need Steps 2 through 6. If a high speed connection to your laptop/workstation is all you need, and you don't want to share that connection with other computers in your home, then you do not need steps 7-10.
2. Do you want to be able to connect multiple computers to the Internet? If so, then you need a home router/hub. That means you need Steps 7 and 8. Use these instructions to install a router/hub that will enable all your computers to share the Broadband Connection.
3. Do you want to be able to work from anywhere in your home? If so, you need to go Wireless. That means you need Steps 9 and 10. These instructions will explain to you how to install a wireless ethernet card in your workstation, and how to enable wireless security.
