CREATE A SCREEN CAPTURE
Did you ever want to save something on the screen -- maybe an error message you'd like to send to the Help desk or an application interface you're documenting?
Here's how:
- Select [Alt] + [Print Screen] on your keyboard at the same time to copy the active window to the clipboard. Or select [Print Screen] alone to copy the entire desktop
- Open the application you want to copy the image into and select [CTRL] + [V] to paste the image. Some common programs that will accept these images are Lotus Notes, Lotus WordPro, Microsoft Paint (Select Start > Programs > Accessories > Paint) and Adobe Photoshop.
If you want only a portion of a captured image, you can use the Microsoft Paint accessory:
- Make a capture of the screen by selecting [Print Screen]
- Select Start > Programs > Accessories > Paint
- Select [CTRL] + [V] to paste the image into Paint
- Select the rectangle tool and drag your mouse over the portion of the image you want to highlight
- Click inside the rectangle to select the portion
- Hit [CTRL] + [C] to copy that section of the image
- Create a new image in Paint, or paste the section into another application.
Many programs will also allow you to select the image and "crop" it to your desired size.
Some examples follow.
